FIFA World Cup final: Kerala govt declares holiday for schools, colleges on Monday reports that Kerala’s government will close educational institutions on Monday to allow students to watch the FIFA World Cup final. The holiday covers schools under the General Education Department and higher education institutions, including professional colleges, under the Higher Education Department. The decision follows requests from football fans—particularly students—posted on social media directed at Chief Minister V D Satheesan and other ministers. It was issued on Satheesan’s directions, and some schools in Ernakulam had already announced a holiday. Higher Education Minister Roji M John said Monday is intended to enable students to enjoy the match and avoid travel-related inconvenience afterward. General Education Minister N Samsudheen also announced the school holiday, with a post that opened by addressing children directly. The Spain vs Argentina final kicks off at 12.30 am IST on Monday.
