Jefferson City will try to avoid repeating last season’s slip when it hosts Sedalia Smith-Cotton in a Central Missouri Activities Conference game at 7 p.m. today at Adkins Stadium. The Jays previously owned a 27-game streak in the series dating to 1955, but Smith-Cotton rallied in the fourth quarter last year to break an unbeaten run. Jefferson City (1-2, 0-2 CMAC) is coming off a 35-19 loss to Rock Bridge, including a 35-7 halftime deficit. Coach Eric Thomas said the team is approaching the game plan and practices without looking past the opponent. The Tigers (0-3, 0-2) are in Year 1 under Michael Franklin and are adjusting schemes after an injury to starter Ian Jackson.
