Hull City fined £30,000 over discriminatory chanting during Chelsea FA Cup tie

Hull City has been fined £30,000 by the Football Association for discriminatory homophobic chanting during their 4-0 FA Cup defeat to Chelsea earlier this year in February. The FA charge specifically concerns homophobic chants. Hull also received an action plan from an independent regulatory commission and warned supporters ahead of their Premier League trip to Stamford Bridge on Saturday not to repeat discriminatory chanting. In a statement, the club condemned the “rent boy” chant as a recognized homophobic slur and said it may constitute a hate crime, with three supporters banned for at least three years and potential arrest or criminal charges for repeat offenders. Separately, Hull confirmed winger Sorba Thomas was unharmed after flipping his Land Rover Defender near the club’s Cottingham training ground; images showed emergency services responding around 9am.
