James Madison coach Billy Napier finally reveals what went wrong at Florida in recent interview
Billy Napier, now head coach of the James Madison Dukes, explained in a recent interview what he believes went wrong during his Florida tenure, acknowledging issues related to managing NIL. Speaking on the local ESPN Radio show “Fitz The Bill” in Richmond and in comments to On3, Napier said the program struggled to handle NIL workload and the demands that followed the NCAA transfer portal. He also said he did not delegate enough and described stubbornness about his offensive approach, including difficulty handing over play-calling duties. Napier argued that these choices limited the detail he could provide while making him less confident, once under pressure, to give those responsibilities to others. The report links the comments to the Jadan Rashada NIL deal controversy and notes fans had raised concerns about accountability early in his tenure.
