Jennifer Siebel Newsom dodges question on husband Gavin's presidential aspirations
Jennifer Siebel Newsom dodged a question about whether her husband, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, is pursuing a 2028 presidential run during an appearance on MSNBC’s “MS NOW” with host Stephanie Ruhle. Asked “Is he aspiring?”, she said the couple is focused on California, describing their efforts around women and children and work to close the women’s wealth and wage gaps. She framed their political stance as a threat to the GOP, citing claims that California’s economy is the “fourth-largest” and that California GDP rose 40% higher than Germany and China, while also contrasting the pace with U.S. growth. She also said they are focused on “saving our democracy,” alleging the U.S. is destabilized by an “unhinged leader.” The interview followed Gavin Newsom’s remarks in connection with an alleged DOJ investigation directed by Donald Trump.
