Korea selects US investment | Arkansas Democrat Gazette
xCruzo Brief
South Korea confirmed its first project under a proposed $350 billion U.S. investment pact on Tuesday, even as profitability concerns and criticism from President Donald Trump have raised pressure on Seoul’s timeline. The deal begins with a 6.3-gigawatt gas-fired power plant in Encinal, Texas valued at more than $20 billion, intended to supply electricity to AI data centers and chip factories. Lawmaker Chung Chin-ook said Seoul is also considering two additional initiatives involving South Korean-designed nuclear reactors and a possible 5% to 10% stake in Westinghouse. Washington will require U.S. investment committee approval and further talks with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
