Lekjaa's World Cup 2030 Final Claim Riles FIFA, Spain

Fouzi Lekjaa, president of Morocco’s Royal Moroccan Football Federation, has intensified the race for the 2030 World Cup final venue after saying the Hassan II Stadium in Benslimane would host the showpiece match. The claim was made during an electoral gathering in the province on Thursday. FIFA responded that no decision has been made, with a spokesperson telling Reuters that a final call will come “in due course.” FIFA has not finalized all host cities, with Morocco, Spain and Portugal jointly hosting the tournament and the opening matches scheduled in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Rafael Louzan, head of Spain’s federation, said Spain cannot withdraw because existing agreements and commitments remain in place, and he suggested the final site could be set after a FIFA Congress in Rabat next year.
