Mary Felicity Hughes, 99, died peacefully on July 3, 2026, in North Andover, six weeks short of her 100th birthday. Born August 15, 1926, in Kettering, England, she trained at University College Hospital and became a State Registered Nurse in 1948, later expanding her experience in Copenhagen. In 1950 she also became a State Certified Midwife. After working in England until 1954, she joined the Grenfell Mission in St. Anthony, Newfoundland, delivering care to remote communities by boat and dogsled. She married William R. “Bill” Hughes in 1955. She is survived by five children, 13 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, and by her brother Joe Atwell and other relatives.
