Michael Grant launches 2028 bid for Ben Albritton's Senate seat with 20-plus endorsements in hand

Grant filed Tuesday to run for Senate District 27, the Southwest Florida seat Ben Albritton will leave when term limits take effect in 2028. On day one he announced more than 20 endorsements, signaling an early bid to clear the field well before any ballot is cast. The former House Majority Leader, who represented Charlotte County in two stints (2004–2008 and 2016–2024), highlighted leadership posts such as Deputy Whip, Majority Whip and Majority Leader and experience on tax and budget issues. The campaign notes include endorsements from Sheriff Carmine Marceno, Sheriff Bill Prummell, State Attorney Amira Fox, and Senators Joe Gruters and Ralph Massullo. The campaign lists early support from law-enforcement and lawmakers.
