Former M&S Chief Executive hired to spearhead Government drive to help young people into work

Former M&S chief executive Marc Bolland has been appointed Lead Non-Executive Director at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to accelerate the Government's Youth Guarantee. He will convene business leaders to address a million young NEET and the charity Movement to Work, which already has helped more than 200,000 young people into work, and will inform policy delivery. The appointment follows the Alan Milburn interim report, which highlighted youth unemployment as a persistent challenge. Bolland will advise Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden and drive sector partnerships to create clear routes into work, including for young people with health conditions.
