Nonprofit is offering free laundry days in Metro Detroit. Here's why.

A Metro Detroit nonprofit, Laundromat Love, is partnering with local laundry facilities to offer free laundry days for residents who struggle to afford a full wash cycle. CBS News highlighted one participant, Keith Jacks, who said he was surprised to be able to wash and dry loads for free after walking into Coin Laundry on Joy Road. Founder and executive director Kathy Giuliani-Stubbs said the organization was launched after she noticed people stretching limited resources by repeatedly combining multiple loads into one. Volunteers visit laundromats regularly, and the nonprofit also distributes hygiene products not covered by SNAP benefits. Jamal Abdullah helped spread the message online.
