O-Train lines 2 and 4 to shut for maintenance
O-Train lines 2 and 4 will be shut this weekend to allow proactive maintenance intended to prevent longer outages. In a social media release, Leary described the downtime as enabling a range of proactive maintenance activities. Officials note an end-to-end track inspection is among the tasks and requires a full line closure. Several maintenance activities are scheduled for the weekend as part of the coordinated effort. The disruption will affect riders, with replacement plans and real-time updates designed to mitigate the impact.
R2 bus service will operate between Bayview and Limebank stations every 12 minutes, with occasional additional buses during peak periods. Route 105 will replace Line 4, offering service approximately every 15 minutes to maintain coverage across the affected corridors. The release indicates the work is scheduled for the weekend, but it does not specify exact dates. Officials emphasize the closures are temporary and designed to protect safety while preserving overall service quality and reliability. Commuters should plan for travel changes during the shutdown and monitor official updates for any adjustments or rerouting.
