xCruzo Brief
A 16-year-old suspect used a pump-action shotgun purchased by his mother when he opened fire at Silver Rail Elementary School in Oregon, police said. The attack began about 12:59 p.m. after the teenager arrived armed, with authorities saying he shot at locked doors to enter the school and dispatched received dozens of 911 calls. Three children—ages five, eight and 11—were killed, along with a teacher, according to Bend Police Chief Mike Krantz. The superintendent and Gov. Tina Kotek both condemned the “senseless tragedy.” Officers later located the suspect shot and dead after a community member pursued him; a seven-year-old child and a 54-year-old teacher were taken to hospital.
