Real Madrid on brink of agreeing personal terms with Rodri ahead of formal Man City negotiations

Real Madrid is close to agreeing personal terms with Rodri as formal talks with Manchester City have not started. Florentino Pérez has reportedly changed his stance, becoming “much more open” to signing the Spain international, according to journalist Matteo Moretto. The shift follows Rodri’s return from the FIFA World Cup as champion and Golden Ball winner after captaining Spain to a 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final. Rodri’s contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in the summer of 2027, leaving him with one year remaining, which alters the negotiation timeline and creates an incentive for Real Madrid to act this summer. Moretto says Real Madrid already have Rodri’s approval and that the parties are very close to an agreement in principle on personal terms. Still, there are no negotiations underway between Real Madrid and Manchester City.
