Recovery Olympics celebrate tenth anniversary with biggest Stirling event
The Recovery Olympics in Stirling marked its 10th anniversary with what organizers called its biggest event to date, centered on a light-hearted “sports day” for people in recovery from addiction. The gathering began in 2016 as a partnership between Active Stirling and the Forth Valley Recovery Community (FVRC). This year’s Stirling event at Forthbank Stadium drew 150 participants and 188 spectators, representing 18 recovery communities and support organizations across Scotland. Activities ranged from sprint and sack races to soft archery, turbo javelin, Hungry Hippos, and tug-of-war. The day also featured fancy dress, face painting, children’s races, bouncy castle, music, and entertainment. The Observer reported on participants including David Campbell and FVRC team leader James Sludden.
