Rocky Hill High School coach charged with OUI after deadly pedestrian crash

A coach at Rocky Hill High School has been charged with operating under the influence after a deadly pedestrian crash Sunday night on Glastonbury Avenue. Police say dispatchers received a 911 call about the collision around 8:45 p.m. A car struck a pedestrian, who was transported to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead. The victim was identified as 65-year-old Miguel A. Collado Almonte of Rocky Hill. The driver, 23-year-old Sarah Bezdelovs, also of Rocky Hill, was arrested at the scene and charged with OUI. She posted a $50,000 bond and is set to be arraigned Sept. 21. Bezdelovs is the head volleyball coach, has been placed on administrative leave, and police and town officials discussed ongoing sidewalk plans.
