Schwarber sets Phils record with 30th home run | Arkansas Democrat Gazette
Kyle Schwarber set a Phillies franchise mark by becoming the first major leaguer to reach 30 home runs this season, powering a 5-4 win over the New York Mets on Sunday. Philadelphia blew an early 3-0 lead and fell behind 4-3 before Schwarber launched a 408-foot, two-run drive to center off Kodai Senga, who was making his first regular-season relief appearance. Schwarber connected in the Phillies’ 84th game, the fastest to 30 homers in team history, and stretched his streak to six consecutive 30-homer seasons. The run came with Bryce Harper, Alec Bohm and Brandon Marsh all driving in runs in the third inning. Kyle Backhus (1-0) secured the final two outs in the sixth, while Jhoan Duran pitched a hitless ninth for his 21st save. Other games included Cardinals 2, Marlins 1; Cubs 4, Brewers 3 (10); Dodgers 4, Padres 2; Giants 3, Braves 2; and Pirates 9, Reds 4.
