Kyle Schwarber became the first major leaguer to reach 30 home runs this season as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the New York Mets 5-4 on Sunday. He did it with a two-run shot in the seventh inning, a 408-foot drive to center field off Kodai Senga (0-7). Philadelphia had started fast with a 3-0 lead but allowed Mets to rally to 4-3 before Schwarber swung the game back. The homer came in the Phillies’ 84th game, the fastest any player has reached 30 homers in franchise history, and marked his sixth straight 30-homer season and eighth overall among active players. Bryce Harper, Alec Bohm and Brandon Marsh contributed RBI in the third. Kyle Backhus (1-0) recorded the final two outs in the sixth, while Jhoan Duran earned a hitless ninth and his 21st save.
