Seattle Police Search for 2 Men Who Parachuted From the Space Needle

Seattle police are searching for two men after they climbed over the glass wall of the Space Needle’s observation deck and parachuted from the 605-foot-tall landmark on Friday evening. The suspects entered the Space Needle shortly before 9 p.m. using tickets they had purchased, according to the Seattle Police Department. Detective Brian Pritchard said security guards told investigators the pair appeared on camera at the top, went into a restroom and returned with helmets on. Surveillance shows them running toward the north-facing glass, jumping to the opposite side and performing a backflip before the jump. Both face misdemeanor criminal trespassing charges. Authorities have not said where they landed, and the men were described as white and in their late 20s.
