Soccer-Jackson double ends Man City's perfect run as Villa win 2-1

Aston Villa ended Manchester City’s perfect Premier League run with a 2-1 victory at Villa Park on Saturday, powered by Nicolas Jackson, who scored once in each half. The win was also significant for Villa amid wider uncertainty around City’s off-field financial case: City is playing under the shadow of a guilty verdict tied to 114 breaches of Premier League financial rules, charges City has always denied. City remained top with 21 points, but the defeat reduced their margin as Arsenal had the chance to draw level later on Saturday when hosting Everton. Villa moved to sixth with 11 points, delivering a first league home win this season and their third straight league victory over City. Marc Guehi’s heavy touch helped lead to Villa’s early goal, while Jackson netted the winner on the hour.
