Spain allows US extradition case against pro-Palestinian donor to proceed

Spain has allowed a U.S. extradition request for pro-Palestinian donor James Cox Chambers to move forward to court, even as left-wing coalition partners protested that the case is politically motivated. Chambers, 41—an American media heir nicknamed “Fergie”—was arrested in Ibiza on July 10 at the request of U.S. authorities and is held in pre-trial detention in Madrid. He has called for the destruction of the United States, and his legal team says the U.S. charges (including alleged money laundering and conspiracy) haven’t been publicly detailed. A hearing date is expected soon. Spain’s process cannot proceed if political motivation is found.
