Synchronised infrastructure vital for HCM City's expansion: official
HCM City’s deputy minister of construction, Nguyễn Tường Văn, said synchronized, modern infrastructure is a “strategic breakthrough” to sustain the city’s economic growth and expand its urban space. Speaking at a seminar on October 16 titled “Investing in Synchronised Infrastructure Development: Economic Growth Driver and Expansion of HCM City’s Development Space,” Văn argued that upgraded transport networks will ease pressure on the historic inner city and strengthen regional competitiveness, logistics and maritime-related economics. He pointed to administrative adjustments under the Law on Urban Development 2026 and to Resolution No 09-NQ/TW, with the aim of transforming HCM City into a leading Southeast Asian metropolis by 2030. Priorities include addressing traffic congestion, severe flooding and environmental pollution, expanding key backbone projects, and targeting about 255km of metro lines by 2030.
