The Latest: Soldiers seriously wounded in Iranian drone strike tell AP the US military failed them
In the aftermath of Iran’s deadliest drone strike on U.S. troops, six soldiers were killed on March 1 at Port Shuaiba in Kuwait—one day after the U.S. and Israel began their war against Iran. Now, soldiers who were seriously wounded are speaking to the Associated Press, raising concerns that commanders underestimated the threat and that the military medical system did not work as it should. The AP spoke with 13 soldiers, primarily officers, including people familiar with high-level briefings. They allege the Pentagon didn’t take Iranian threats seriously enough before launching Operation Epic Fury. The Army says it completed an investigation in June but has not released the report, citing the need to redact sensitive information and respect next of kin.
