The Pope has bought 20 Fiat Topolinos for Vatican City

The Pope’s procurement of Fiat Topolino vehicles for Vatican City underscores the Vatican’s push for “sustainable mobility.” According to the report, the Governorate of Vatican City State has agreed to receive thirty vehicles, including the all-electric Fiat Topolino quadricycle and the similarly electric TRIS three-wheel delivery pickup, under a programme called “Ecological Conversion 2030.” The Vatican will take delivery of the first 20 Topolinos, while the handover is described with the TRIS shown in concept form. The Topolino is an enclosed quadricycle with a 5.4 kWh battery, a four-hour home-socket charge time, a maximum speed of 28 mph, and a 46-mile range; it has 8 bhp and a 0–28 mph sprint in about ten seconds. The TRIS has a 6.9 kWh battery, a 56-mile range, and can carry two standard euro pallets on a 2.25 m-square trayback, with covered options for up to a 420 kg payload. Pricing for the Topolino is stated as £8,995 in the UK.
