Virginia school board bent over backward to block an LGBTQ+ club. One mom explains why she's suing

A mother in rural Virginia has joined a federal lawsuit after her child’s attempt to form a gay-straight alliance at King George Middle School was blocked. Susan Park and another family filed the complaint Tuesday against the King George County School Board, Superintendent Jesse Boyd and Principal Casey Nice, seeking a court order requiring the district to treat the LGBTQ+ club like other student groups. The American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia and Potomac Law Group filed the case, alleging officials repeatedly changed rules to prevent students from forming the GSA while allowing other organizations to operate. The 17-page complaint cites violations of the First Amendment and the Equal Access Act, which covers noncurricular student groups in public schools.
