Voting is open for the Halifax Health Volusia-Flagler Boys Athlete of the Week for the period Aug. 31-Sept. 5. The previous winner was DeLand golfer Bentley Williams, who took 48% of the vote after posting a one-under-par 34 in a victory over Seabreeze. New nominees are gathered from across the area via email submissions to cvinel@usatodayco.com, with entries due by 8 a.m. every Monday and including a player’s name, school, and week-specific statistics. The online poll closes at 10 a.m. Thursday, and emailed votes won’t count. Eligible sports include all in-season sports except football. This ballot features bowling Christopher O’Neill’s perfect 300, plus cross-country’s Douglas Seth (15:52.65) and golf performances from Logan Brooks, Sam Garewal, and others.
