What Jane Doe told Cornell hearing panel about alleged 2024 gang rape
More than seven months after a former Cornell University student identified as “Jane Doe” reported being raped at the school’s Chi Phi fraternity house, she testified before a university hearing panel on May 29, 2025. According to ABC News records reviewed, she said she was “raped and tormented” and urged the panel to make Cornell “a better and safer place” by removing from campus the men she alleged attacked her. She described being coerced into using ketamine and alleged gang rape by 8–10 fraternity brothers, though some accused men argued the encounter was consensual. Cornell’s Title IX investigation occurred behind closed doors; results were not shared with Tompkins County prosecutors, which declined charges. ABC News reviewed transcripts of the 12-day hearing, and Cornell police investigation outcomes were also not pursued by the district attorney.
