Air Cambodia Orders 20 Comac C909 Regional Jets | Aviation Week

Air Cambodia has ordered 20 COMAC C909 regional jets, positioning itself as the first international flag carrier to commit to the Chinese-built aircraft. The announcement came on the sidelines of the World AI Conference in Singapore, where Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet attended, according to Chinese state media. The order follows an Air Cambodia–COMAC memorandum of understanding signed last September for the C909. Separately, Cambodia’s State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) and COMAC agreed a strategic cooperation MOU covering technology transfer, human resource development, airport development and maintenance, and technical support. Air Cambodia is 30% owned by Cambodia’s government, with Vietnam Airlines holding 14% and remaining shares held by China’s Henan Airport Investment Group and Hong Kong’s 7Trip International Co. Fleet data cited by Aviation Week show three Airbus A320s and three ATR 72-600s in operation, plus orders for 10 Boeing 737-8s. CAPA data indicate China represents 32.1% of Air Cambodia’s seat capacity.
