Air Force One flyover for White House Halloween event causes flight delays

A flyover by the US presidential airplane, Air Force One, for a White House Halloween event on Thursday evening delayed dozens of flights and triggered disruption at one of Washington’s key airports, officials and aviation data show. The aircraft made two lower-than-normal passes around the White House while President Donald Trump was hosting children for trick-or-treating, and the FAA temporarily halted traffic at Reagan Washington National Airport. City council members said they received only 15 minutes’ notice, while airline officials reported under an hour. Flight tracking site FlightAware reported 26% of departures and 17% of arrivals delayed, totaling 202 flights. The plane also flew over nearby neighborhoods.
