Air India to launch direct Guwahati-Dubai, Abu Dhabi flights from Aug.4, says Assam CM

Air India will expand Assam’s international connectivity by launching direct Guwahati–Dubai and Guwahati–Abu Dhabi flights starting August 4, according to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Sarma announced the plan on X, saying the two non-stop routes come days after EU member states lifted their travel advisory for Assam, which he said creates new avenues for engagement with the global community. The new services will strengthen access to Assam and the Northeast. With the addition of the routes, Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati will be directly connected to four countries: the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Singapore, and Bhutan. The chief minister also pointed to further expansion, including proposed direct flights to Vietnam, to support tourism and business travel.
