Airline cancels all flights on popular route until August 2026
Skybus has cancelled all flights on a popular route between Cornwall Airport Newquay and the Isles of Scilly until the end of August 2026. The airline, operated by the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, suspended the service citing “a series of operational challenges,” specifically a shortage of aircraft and pilots that reduced operational resilience. Skybus said in a letter to passengers obtained by ITV News that it explored options to keep the Newquay service running but could not operate reliably for the rest of the summer. The route has been served since June 1992 and has carried around 400,000 passengers on more than 40,000 flights. Skybus has offered a transfer plan for bookings to St Mary’s, rerouting travelers to flights departing from Land’s End. Separately, Loganair will reduce services from Inverness to Stornoway, Orkney and Shetland starting July 19.
