A new TBX study released by Airworthy.com says general aviation maintenance shops are facing parts friction driven more by time and access than by pricing alone. The 2026 General Aviation Parts Survey, led by TBX CEO Jon McLaughlin, polled mechanics, shop owners, Directors of Maintenance and other professionals. Results show 66% expect the parts supply environment to worsen soon, while 72% reported dissatisfaction with parts pricing and 59% with lead times. Respondents highlighted access to IPCs, part numbers and technical data as the single change with the biggest positive impact. The average certified GA piston aircraft is now 53 years old, adding pressure as production declines.
