Are all waiting" for final AAIB report on AI-171 crash: Civil Aviation Minister
The final AAIB report on the Air India AI-171 crash is in its last stages, with investigators adhering to strict international protocols. The Boeing 787-8 departed from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on June 12 last year and crashed, killing 260 people: 229 passengers, 12 crew members, and 19 on the ground. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said the inquiry is progressing steadily and that officials will not hurry the process. He noted the AAIB is following ICAO Annex 13 requirements as it analyzes the evidence.
AAIB officials reported significant progress in examining aircraft systems, flight recorder data, and engine components, with analysis conducted in an integrated, evidence-based manner and supported by accredited representatives and subject-matter experts. The final report will reflect ongoing technical evaluations and any additional inspections deemed necessary to verify findings. The bureau stressed its commitment to independence and thoroughness, stating that the Final Report will be released only after all investigative activities and the international review prescribed under ICAO Annex 13 are complete, and after consultation with relevant parties.
