Bombardier shares opened lower and were still down in morning trading Tuesday after President Donald Trump threatened to restrict the Canadian private-jet maker’s access to the U.S. market. The U.S. market accounts for about half of Bombardier’s sales, and shares slipped 3% after starting the session down 6.4%. Trump issued the warning in a Monday post as Washington and Ottawa’s trade dispute escalated, including Canada’s counter-tariffs on $20 billion of U.S. goods. It’s unclear how delivery would be blocked given FAA approvals for aircraft already. The aerospace sector has largely avoided similar tariff hits. Bombardier says it has 3,500 American workers, a U.S. supplier base of 2,800, and defense activity in Wichita, Kansas, where lawmakers like Rep. Ron Estes oppose aerospace tariffs.
