Bombardier to buy Mitsubishi aerospace plant near Pearson airport

Bombardier says it will buy Mitsubishi’s main Canadian aerospace factory near Toronto’s Pearson airport, bringing in-house work that was previously outsourced. The Montreal-based business jet maker will purchase the facilities of MHI Canada Aerospace Inc. in Mississauga, Ontario, adding about 750 Mitsubishi employees to Bombardier’s workforce of roughly 18,000. The deal also moves a 270,000-square-foot plant—responsible for wing assembly, fuselage and flight-control installations for some Bombardier aircraft—under Bombardier’s control. David Murray, executive vice-president of manufacturing, called it a key step in a long-term growth strategy as demand rises. The company did not disclose the purchase price. Closing is expected later in 2026, pending regulatory approvals.
