Google has won a bankruptcy auction for Spirit Airlines’ internal enterprise data, prompting concern among former Spirit flight attendants and other staff. The deal, announced after Spirit stopped flying in May, is valued at $10 million. Google beat AI data firms Mercor, which bid $7.5 million, and Micro1, which later submitted $12.5 million after the auction closed. The acquisition includes an estimated 600 million email and chat records from 17,000 employees, plus operational information covering more than 763,000 flights and millions of crew pairings, fuel slips, parts records, and service tickets. Critics cite potential privacy law risks.
