Delta Airbus A350 Winglet Wedged In Air Canada Boeing 777's Tail After LAX Collision
xCruzo Brief
A Delta Air Lines Airbus A350-900 collided with the tail of an Air Canada Boeing 777 while both aircraft were taxiing for departure at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Tuesday morning. The A350-900, operating Delta Flight DL7 to Tokyo Haneda (HND), struck the 777-200LR’s horizontal stabilizer with its left wingtip after Air Canada Flight AC785 from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) stopped short of its gate while being towed. The impact tore off the A350’s winglet and left damage to the 777’s tail. No injuries were reported on either aircraft’s 275 passengers and 15 crew for Delta. Both jets were removed for inspection and repairs; the FAA opened an investigation and the NTSB was notified.
