Drone, artillery attacks kill civilians on both sides of Russia-Ukraine border
Drone, artillery attacks kill civilians on both sides of Russia-Ukraine border—drones and artillery strikes killed civilians along the Russia-Ukraine border on Saturday, according to local officials. In Russia’s Bryansk border region, a Telegram post by acting Governor Yegor Kovalchuk said a Ukrainian drone strike killed two people in their car in a village near the border. Russia’s Defence Ministry, cited by Russian news agencies, said 124 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russian regions between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. (0500–1700 GMT). Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin issued multiple statements about interceptions of Ukrainian drones heading for the capital, and Russian agencies’ informal count put the number at 21 during the day. In Ukraine, Oleksandr Ganzha, governor of the southeastern Dnipropetrovsk Region, said more than 40 combined drone strikes and artillery attacks killed one person and injured one near Nikopol. The town is across the Dnipro River from the Russian-held Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and is frequently targeted.
