Ethiopian adds new Twin Otter to fleet
Ethiopian Airlines Group, Africa’s largest airline, has taken delivery of the first of two DHC-6 Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft from De Havilland Aircraft of Canada. The acquisition is intended to strengthen Ethiopia’s domestic network and improve access to remote communities and tourism destinations. The aircraft is equipped with a Garmin G1000 integrated flight deck and is described as having modern upgrades, including lightweight cabin seating, enhanced electrical systems, and improved cockpit ergonomics. Ethiopian Airlines says the model introduces the 300-G variant to its fleet and supports regional connectivity. Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said the aircraft supports multi-purpose missions such as charter operations to tourist destinations, airport calibration, aerial surveys, and air ambulance service. De Havilland Canada’s Ryan DeBrusk highlighted the Twin Otter’s reliability and suitability for challenging environments.
