EVA Air debuts the first Washington, D.C. to Taipei nonstop service signals a major route expansion for the carrier, adding a new transpacific link for travelers between the U.S. capital region and Taiwan. The airline launched nonstop flights between Washington Dulles International Airport and Taipei on June 26, 2026, describing the launch as its 10th North American gateway. EVA Air says it is the first airline to provide nonstop service between the two cities. A ceremonial inaugural event at Dulles included a water cannon salute for the arriving Taipei flight. The ceremony was led by EVA Air President Clay Sun alongside officials from the Virginia Department of Aviation and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, as well as Taipei representatives. Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-Yu and a congressional delegation joined the flight and ribbon-cutting.
