The FAA awarded nearly $1.8 billion in airport infrastructure grants to U.S. airports across 46 states, aiming to upgrade safety and capacity nationwide. The awards were announced by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and combine Airport Improvement Program grants with Airport Infrastructure Grant funding created under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Additional passenger-focused grants were directed to Portland International ($12.3 million) and New Orleans Louis Armstrong ($6.8 million) for a terminal people mover, among others.
