FAA Investigates Reported Drone Strike on JetBlue Flight Approaching New York Airport - Internewscast Journal
An FAA investigation is underway after reports of a possible drone strike on a JetBlue aircraft approaching New York’s JFK airport. Federal officials said the incident involved JetBlue Airlines Flight 948, which flew from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas to New York. Early information indicated the possible encounter occurred at roughly 3,000 feet, and the FAA reported that the pilot described striking a drone on final approach around 7:15 a.m. local time Monday. JetBlue said the flight landed safely and that passengers exited normally, with the aircraft taken out of service for a post-flight inspection. Both the airline and the FAA stated inspection results found no damage and no evidence confirming a collision. The FAA added that unauthorized drone operations near airports are illegal and can lead to civil penalties and criminal charges.
