Federal investigators to probe Florida Learjet crash that killed nine
xCruzo Brief
Federal investigators say the Learjet 60 crash that killed all nine people aboard in Lake Worth Beach, Florida may have involved breakup before impact. The NTSB has dispatched a rapid-response “go-team” and begun documentation of Sunday’s crash, with member Tom Chapman and lead investigator Timothy Monville briefing reporters Monday. Investigators recovered evidence of “some breakup,” Chapman said, and warned that recovering major wreckage from the roadway crater will be a multi-day effort. The NTSB is leading the probe with FAA support. The jet, operated by Aurora Aviation (Upper Jets), departed Austin for the Bahamas at 10:37 a.m. and crashed around 12:50 p.m., following reports of light clear ice at altitude.
