Former Pirates fan favorite signs with new team

The Atlanta Braves signed veteran outfielder Andrew McCutchen to a minor league contract, according to the team’s transaction page. McCutchen began the 2026 regular season with the Texas Rangers after signing a minor league deal in March, but was designated for assignment in May following a .192 batting average in 37 games. The five-time All-Star has spent three of the past seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates in a second stint. His earlier run with the Pirates included being named the 2013 National League Most Valuable Player. Last season with Pittsburgh, he hit .239 with 13 home runs and 57 RBIs. Over his career, McCutchen has a .271 batting average, 333 home runs, and 1,157 RBIs, with the Pirates, Giants, Yankees, Phillies, and Brewers.
