Heartbreaking tributes to pilot of doomed jet heard praying as it nosedived

Jeffrey Gregory, a pilot for East Coast Jets, was identified as the captain of a Learjet that crashed near Greenacres in Palm Beach County, Florida, killing nine people. The flight was traveling from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Texas, to the Bahamas when it began having problems at about 35,000 feet, according to reports. Audio from the final moments said Gregory was reciting the Lord’s Prayer before the crash. The aircraft reportedly dived nearly vertically and crashed just metres from homes. Gregory, 55, of Pennsylvania, was described in tributes as a devoted father, husband and aviation enthusiast, survived by his wife Cheryl and three children.
