Here's How Much More Range The Airbus A350-1000ULR Has Compared To The Boeing 777X
The Airbus A350-1000ULR underscores the next era of ultra-long-haul aviation by targeting record-breaking nonstop routes, notably for Qantas’ Project Sunrise. Airbus has not published a formal range figure, but industry estimates put the aircraft beyond 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 km). Qantas’ custom-designed variant is scheduled to enter service in 2027 and is engineered for flights of about 22 hours using added fuel capacity, including a rear center tank. The A350-1000ULR is expected to cut journey times by up to four hours versus typical one-stop options on sectors such as Sydney–London and New York–London. Competing against Boeing’s 777X family, the program highlights how modern aerodynamics, materials, and Rolls-Royce Trent XWB efficiency are enabling new network possibilities.
