India acknowledged military deaths in Operation Sindoor amid growing controversy by officially adding six soldiers’ names to the National War Memorial’s Roll of Honour. The acknowledgement, dated 7 May 2025, came after earlier losses were not confirmed at the official level, according to Kashmir Media Service (KMS). The six named personnel are Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, Rifleman Sunil Kumar, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, Aviation Technician Moord Murli Naik, Havaldar Sunil Kumar Singh, and Sergeant Surinder Kumar. KMS said sustained protests and pressure from the families of the deceased were key to pushing the authorities to disclose identities. The update strengthens Pakistan’s position, KMS reported, while India is described as gradually revealing details. Pakistan had previously claimed targeting India’s 10 Infantry Brigade, and KMS references claims about an S-400 battery in Udhampur and a later Vayu Medal for Sergeant Surinder Kumar.
