JetBlue flight reports drone strike during approach to New York airport: FAA
A JetBlue flight reportedly encountered a drone while approaching John F. Kennedy International Airport for landing Monday morning, according to federal officials cited by Fox News Digital. The incident involved JetBlue Airlines Flight 948, and the FAA said the pilot reported striking a drone at about 3,000 feet while on final approach around 7:15 a.m. local time. JetBlue told Fox News Digital the crew reported a possible drone encounter during final approach. The aircraft landed safely, customers deplaned normally, and it was removed from service for a post-flight inspection. Both JetBlue and the FAA said the inspection found no evidence of damage or a collision. The FAA confirmed it would investigate, noting unauthorized drone operations near airports are illegal. The agency added that sightings of unmanned aircraft from pilots, citizens, and law enforcement remain high, and operators who violate restricted airspace can face civil penalties and criminal charges, including possible jail time.
