Los Gatos High remember and honor Flight 93 heroes

Los Gatos High School honored two of its graduates who were on United Airlines Flight 93 during the Sept. 11 attacks. The commemorations took place Friday ahead of a home football game, when the school remembered Todd Beamer and Mark Bingham, passengers on the flight bound for San Francisco that crashed into an open field in Pennsylvania. A military flyover preceded the game. Beamer, a former baseball player, and Bingham, a rugby standout, were described as “just a class apart.” More than a decade after graduating, they were on the same flight and helped form a plan to retake the cockpit. Congressman Sam Liccardo and superintendent Heath Rocha spoke before kickoff, and a plaque was set at the front of the school.
