Major Airlines Warn of Travel Chaos as Nor'easter Nears

A powerful nor’easter approaching the U.S. Northeast has prompted five major airlines to warn of likely travel chaos from North Carolina to Maine, including delays and cancellations driven by dangerous winds and coastal weather. American Airlines issued a severe-weather travel alert covering 16 airports, waiving rebooking fees for eligible passengers traveling to, from, or through those locations, including New York’s JFK, LaGuardia and Newark. JetBlue offered a fee waiver for flights Friday through Sunday across 11 airports in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island. Delta flagged potentially severe conditions, especially around Boston, while United advised on 10 airports, Southwest on seven. FlightAware data showed LaGuardia recorded 661 delays and 33 cancellations on Friday, with additional disruption at JFK and Newark.
